"Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf"

"Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf"

Message Machine: Please leave a message after the beep. *beep*

Man: “Jennifer, tell me where I stand.”

(Pause) We’ve been through this. Over and over. I’ve apologized, you’ve apologized. I just don’t know where we went wrong.  We’re perfect for each other. We’ve said it, they’ve said it, it’ll always be true.

You told me to “leave the bourbon on the shelf” and then you left, so “I’ll drink it by myself” now. The more I drink, the more I think about where it is that we went wrong. “I love you endlessly, darling don’t you see I’m not satisfied” with how we left it off. You said you’re staying at your sister’s place. It’s taking me everything not to call her or just head the 1 ½ hours to see you. Try and talk.

I respect the distance that you need, but “until I hold you tight” it just isn’t the same. Please, “give me one more chance tonight and I swear I’ll make it right. The issues we’re dealing with can be resolved. I don’t want to try and solve it on a voicemail because “you ain’t got time for this and that wreckin’ bell is ringin’.” The more we give this space the more “I’m not satisfied.”

“I’m not satisfied, until I hold you, Jennifer, tell me where I stand.”
