Music is Life. Writing is a journey. Together it creates Stories.

"In The Aeroplane Over The Sea"

"In The Aeroplane Over The Sea"

A couple is taking a hot air balloon at sunrise. They’re holding each other and seem to be in the honeymoon phase of their relationship. In the background is a young man who is the balloon operator.

Anna: This is such a sweet surprise. Thank you for getting my butt up this morning.

Guy: I knew it would be tough. You’re definitely the night owl sort. You went to sleep at 2 am. It’s impressive you’re up right now.

Anna: I’m glad you’re catching on and providing me coffee. Look over there! This is so gorgeous.

Guy: “What a curious life we have found here...” To have met through three degrees of friends at a random party years ago. Who knew?

Anna: It’s destiny! I know you don’t technically believe that, but coincidence is so boring. Wait do you hear that?

Guy: Hear what?

Anna: “There is music” (pauses to listen) “…sounds from the street.” What song is that?

Guy: I can barely hear that, it’s so faint. It seems to be the same artists from our song, but that definitely is not the same song. That would be insane.

Anna: A coincidence? Or Destiny!?

Guy: Honey, look at the “lights in the clouds!”

Anna: Ah, did you just see that bird?  Why is it so close to us? Save me!

Guy starts to chuckle. The young gentleman in the background isn’t sure what’s happening with the Guy.

Young Gentleman: Sir, may I ask what’s so funny this morning? If I remember correctly, I brought you up here on my tour last year around this time.

Long pause.

Guy: It’s a yearly pilgrimage for me. Anna died 5 years ago.

Anna disappears.

Guy: “Anna’s ghost all around” me and I “hear her voice as it's rolling and ringing through me,
soft and sweet.” She was my first true love and I’ll never forget her. How can I? When she was the one that taught me so much. She taught me to listen, to be more patient, that she would always be there for me and I still feel her presence everywhere.

Young Gentleman: She sounds like a wonderful person.

Guy: She is amazing. Was amazing. Her favorite thing in this world, maybe second to me, was music. She heard things that were so different from what everyone else experiences.

Young Gentleman: In what ways?

Guy: She heard something. Like “how the notes all bend” and she would describe those lyrics and notes as reaching “above the trees.” Her descriptions were something else too. She will always be something else.

Young Gentleman: I’m glad you made it up here to remember her. The view gets even better when we go up a bit more.

Young Gentleman fires the balloon up again and the two rise up higher into the sky.
