"Andy, You're a Star" đź…´

Jack is under a tree outside the high school. He paces for a while, and then finally sits down. starting to text, but finally calling.

Message Machine: Please leave a message after the beep. *beep*

Jack: Hey Andy. That play you called earlier at the game was perfect. “On the field I remember you were incredible” with that fake last week. It led to the winning touchdown. And I know you would tell me to “shut up,” but I won’t stop giving you compliments. It’s not just football. You’re so good at sports. It’s kind of insane. Like that basketball game, where both teams were a “match with the boys” and then you came in with your sprained ankle and still blew it out of the water. We all want to be you…really.

I know “you think you’re alone.” I’m sure it’s hard not to feel that way when you’re pretty much a God among men. Don’t though. You don’t have to be alone. You aren’t alone.

You can call me up. You can text Petey and we’ll hang. We can shoot hoops or play video games, anything, man.  Just don’t pull that shit, you know, where you talk about breaking up with her and that you can’t deal “with the pain that you drain from love.” That doesn’t matter anymore. She doesn’t matter anymore man. I saw you leave with Annie earlier. I’m sure you’re trying to get over Suze.

Pauses

Like, when you’re “in a car with a girl” next time, please man, “promise me she’s not your world.” Let it go. You don’t need to be 100% all the time in everything you do. I’m heading to the pool room before I go home. Come meet me there. Just remember, “Andy, you’re a star.”

Jack hangs up and starts to head to the parking lot.
