"California"

"California"

Jules is at a park. It's been a couple for days since coming back from a visit to see Robin.

Jules: So glad to finally be back "here. In California, I was just a name and a number." I was there for a week. How suffocating. Apparently if you aren't "a face on a tumblr" you can't be a real person over there. How 2008. Why was that your place? Of all the states "here. In California, we're all stuck in the same scene." Sure it probably depends on which part you go to, but what was that. You seem happy though through "all the nightmares and daydreams in California."

"And oh" it seems like we left something unsaid, but "I hope it's clear" that it is really over. I don't know why I went, but you insisted and I can't say no to you even though my whole being is shouting for me to never respond to you again. "There's no room for us anymore in the atmosphere, but darling, I always liked the desperation in your eyes."

I will say that I'll miss "the way you'd dance in the glow of the Hollywood Freeway lights." That was nice. That and the beach. Everything else was so awkward. I'm glad I got the hotel because it would have been bad if we were in the same small apartment. We probably wouldn't have lasted the week. I could have come back early. I know I have to do things that I'm uncomfortable with. Will you miss what you had? That's what my sister asked me and I don't know that I will. I've already started to forget and "someday they're gonna forget about us" too. All of our friends, family, the people we spent so much time around. "And we'll wonder if we were ever good enough" for each other. People thought so, but I didn't. You called me out our last night at the house. It didn't matter how much you liked me. I was never going to meet you where you were. "It hit me last night" though "in this song I heard. I remember the feeling but forget all the words."

That's what you wanted me to understand.
