"Picture You"

"Picture You"

Jo’s Parents come home really late at night. There are teens hiding behind the furniture and under coffee tables. Jo stands very still throughout the scene, afraid that any subtle moves will give away that there was a party that didn’t end, technically.

Parent 1: Look at our kid. Your Mother didn’t believe it, but “in you I had no doubt.”

Parent 2: You know I really thought there would be “the chaos” that makes a Mom wonder. The idea that you would have a party really “calls me out” of a stupor. I should have had more fath.

Jo begins to say something.

Parent 1: Well “it feels like there is nothing I” need or “can do.”

Parent 2: You should put the pizza in the fridge before you go to sleep.

Parent 1: “I picture you” as the perfect kid. (looks at their partner) How did we get so lucky?

Parent 2: Okay, “the night falls fast,” and we have your basketball tournament in the morning. Better wrap it up.

Parent 1: “I know” the rain, “it’s heavy.” The sooner we have lights out the more likely you’ll sleep through the rain or the buzz of the storm will tickle “the skin.”

Parent 2: Alright, Honey, you ready to go upstairs?

Parent 1: I can’t believe we’re so lucky. “Will it be” any other way?

Under-the-table Kid sneezes.

Parent 1: Bless You.

Both Parents walk out of the room.

Jo: How were they so chill? I guess my friends are “barely visible.”

Note: Parents don’t have a name because it can be casted either 2 Moms or 1 Mom/1 Dad.  Jo can either be a girl or boy about 16 years old.

The music and video is owned by the artists and their record labels, as applicable.
