"Little Lion Man"

"Little Lion Man"

Lee and Fletcher are having a fight over their friend Alex. Both men want to take Alex on a date. The stage can be in a kitchen or side room of an apartment.

Fletcher: You know I’m going to win this. I’m nervous, but I got this in the bag.

Lee: “Tremble for yourself, my man.” You’re not going to win if you aren’t confident. I have the perfect date scheduled.

Fletcher: You’re so predictable, “ you know that you have seen this all before.” Your plan didn’t work with Sare. Why do you think Alex is going to feel any different?

Lee: Whatever “little lion man.”

Fletcher: (laughs) That’s your best insult?

Lee: Think about it.

Fletcher: Like the cowardly lion from Wizard of Oz, no I get your stupid reference and think you coulda done better.

Lee: If you can’t take it or fight back “you’ll never settle any of your scores.”

Fletcher: Well “your grace is wasted in your face” and “your boldness stands alone among the wreck.” She’s never going to go for you because you’re too much of a narcissist.

Lee: You don’t know anything about how I treat my dates.

Fletcher: I have a clue or two. “Now. Learn from your mother or else spend your days biting your own neck.”

Lee: Did you just call me a vampire momma’s boy?

Fletcher: Look who got the reference.

Alex comes into the room, looking really annoyed.

Alex: You guys. We are all trying to study in the other room. Can you keep it down?

Fletcher: Did you hear us?

Alex: Yep and it’ll be “your [hearts] on the line” if you keep it up.

Alex leaves to go back to studying.

Lee: I can’t believe you asked her if she heard us. (punches Fletcher in the arm) What a doof.

Fletcher: I would rather know that she knows we’ve been arguing about her.

Lee: We could be arguing about any girl.

Fletcher: (rolls eyes) Yeah right. We “really f’ed it up this time.”

Lee: Breaktime over. Let’s go back to studying for the exam tomorrow.

Fletcher and Lee slowly pull out their notebooks and textbooks to join the others in the other room.
