Music is Life. Writing is a journey. Together it creates Stories.

"When You Were Young"

"When You Were Young"

Jess has walked up to a lot in between boarded up homes. She’s on a cell.

Message Machine: Please leave a message after the beep. *beep*

Jess: Hi Mom. Wish you were able to join me on this roadtrip. You’d never guess where I am right now. Remember that night that “we [were] burning down the highway” the night before Christmas trying to pick up last minute items. The “skyline” that day couldn’t have been more brilliant. It glittered off our old home.

She sits on the sidewalk.

Then there was that other time we had to evacuate the city and we waited a little too long so we were “on the back of the hurricane.” That couldn’t have been so bad, but we had that car “that started turning” off the street, but we managed to get out of town. It’s silly, but I miss the house that was destroyed. It’s been a long time, but sitting here.

Pauses.

All these things happened “when [I was] young.” And “when you were young.” You were so young.

I remember when “sometimes you [closed] your eyes” and told me the most magnificent stories and I could “see the place where you used to live when you were young.”

I can’t believe you don’t remember me, now.
