Music is Life. Writing is a journey. Together it creates Stories.

"The New Year"

"The New Year"

Meems and Molls are sitting on a corner couch at a fancy hotel lobby. They have been best friends for a long time. They’re ringing in the new year.

Meems: What do you think it’s going to be like?

Molls: Our lives next year?

Meems: Yeah.

Molls: I’m guessing the same really. You’re going to be awesome at work and I’m going to get a new job. It’ll work out.

Meems: I hope so. Why is it so dead in here? This was supposed to be the party of the century. The countdown was abysmal and everyone has left. You talked me in to getting the room here because we were going to be so drunk.

Molls raises her glass.

Molls: “So this is the new year,” Meems.

Meems: (raising her glass) “And I don’t feel any different,” Molls.

Molls and Meems tip their glasses and “the clanking of crystal” reverberates in the room.

Meems: You think we could still make the fireworks?

Molls: (laughing) Sounds like the “explosions off in the distance” are already happening.

Meems: Ah, “so this is the new year.” Any resolutions?

Molls: Try and be more patient I guess. You?

Meems: “I have no resolutions” because they never come to true.

Molls: (teasing) You never come to true.

Meems: Always so negative.

Molls: Tell that to my Priest. I’m all about the “self assigned penance.”

Meems: You’re not that bad. Let’s just work on the low need stuff this year. “For problems with easy solutions” we’ll at least succeed at something.

Molls: Cheers to that.
