Music is Life. Writing is a journey. Together it creates Stories.

"Umbrella"

Julie and her boyfriend, Jacques, have been shopping all day on their vacation.

Julie: Let’s go to the cafe and rest for a little while. Then we can go to a few more stores before heading back to our rental.

Jacques: Why do we need “these fancy things?” We’re enough for one another. This trip is for relaxing, this is exhausting.

Julie: We can’t let any of this “come in between” us. I really like you. I’m glad we’re on this little getaway together.

Julie looks at a commotion on the street, then hears a lot of murmurs around her. She turns around and sees Jacques on one knee. She’s ecstatic.

Julie: Yes!

Jacques: I didn’t even ask yet.

Julie: Okay. Okay. Go. Go!

Jacques: “You’re part of my entity.” I love you and will be “here for infinity.” There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you. I love to tease you and mess with you because you get so angry, but then I get to cuddle with you. You make my days. You make my world. “The world has took its part” and “dealt its cards” and somehow I got lucky enough to end up with you. Will you marry me?

Julie: Yes. (she grabs his hand) Your “hand is hard.”

Jacques: That’s not important right now.

Julie: I’ll give you lotion later. “You can run into my arms” any day, any time, because I love you so much. I never thought I would be able to love anyone, it really didn’t seem like anyone was more than a bed warmer.

Jacques looks worried.

Julie: No, “it’s okay, don’t be alarmed.” Obviously I don’t feel that way about you.

She goes over to hug him. When they embrace it starts to rain.

Julie: I didn’t bring an umbrella.

Jacques: “I’m gonna let the rain pour” on us.

Julie: What about the proposal?

Jacques: What about it? It’s good luck. “I’ll be all you need and more,” including an umbrella.

Julie: I can’t believe “it’s raining.”

Jacques: “Oh baby it’s raining” (hugging her closer) “Baby, come into me.”
