"Wake Me Up When September Ends"

"Wake Me Up When September Ends"

Jessa is in her bedroom, watching a movie on her laptop. Jessa’s phone rings. She looks at it and is pleasantly surprised. She answers it on speaker.

Jessa: Hey, it’s Jessa.

Taylor: Hey Girl Hey! It’s T.

Jessa: Tay, how’s it going?

Taylor: We haven’t spoken in 10 years and that’s you’re first question??

Jessa: My first real question is why the call now?

Taylor: It’s been 10 years. I’m coming to town next week for the reunion, it’s at the end of this month.

Jessa: Oh, right. It’s next week.

Taylor: I have been waiting all year for this. “Summer has come and passed” and now I can see where everyone is at in life. I live for this. You coming?

Jessa: Why so that people can view me as “the innocent” girl who was deemed the most likely to “never last” life or whatever dumb prank the Seniors had. Please, “wake me up when September ends.”

Taylor: I want to stay with you if possible.

Jessa: Your dads aren’t in town anymore?

Taylor: “Like my fathers come to pass” my family move around constantly. We can’t sit still. My dads are currently doing 6 months in Europe.

Jessa: That’s cool. When did they start that?

Taylor: It was like “seven years” ago when they started revolving around everywhere. Let me tell you that it “has gone so fast.” I miss them, but they’re having a good time so who am I to ruin that.

Jessa: (changing subject) Oh look at that outside. “Here comes the rain again.” That hasn’t changed since we last saw each other. Too much rain in this town.

Taylor: Please come with me next weekend.

Jessa: I’m not going to be peer pressured into being “drenched in my pain again” from high school. We can hang out at lunch or something and talk about “becoming who we are.”

Taylor: Get the couch ready!
