Music is Life. Writing is a journey. Together it creates Stories.

“The Whole of the Moon”

“The Whole of the Moon”

Two college students are in a dorm room. They have taken something and can not focus..

Student 1: No, listen!

Student 2: Whaaaaat?

Student 1: “I spoke about wings” and the butterflies. I’m going to fly like a butterfly.

Student 2:  What are you talking about? “You just flew.”

Student 1: “I wondered....”

Student 1 loses their train of thought. There’s a long pause.

Student 2: You wonder if you can fly?

Student 1: Nah, I wondered where all the types of car technology is thought of.

Student 2: “I guessed and I tried,” but I cannot figure out how you made that jump.

Student 1: If “you just knew” then I wouldn’t have to explain everything to you.

Student 2: “I sighed.”

Student 1: How dramatic. (pauses) Yo, you can see the moon from here.

Student 2: What did we eat?

Student 1: Jackie left out those rolls and we ate some of those. You think there was something in them?

Student 2: Yeah because “you swooned” when we ate them and “I saw the crescent” roll trash with a small bag that was empty next to it. I should ask her about it later. Remind me.

Student 1: Doesn’t matter. I see the whole of the moon.

Student 2: “You saw the whole of the moon” from where you’re laying?

Student 1: Yep. “The whole of the moon.”

Student 2: Want to create a poem about the moon?

Student 1: Great idea. We’ll each provide a couple of words or a phrase.

Student 2: I’ll start. “Unicorns.”

Student 1: “And cannonballs.”

Student 2: All located at “palaces and piers.”

Student 1: There are “trumpets.”

Student 2: Playing from “towers and tenements.”

Student 1: Everything is falling into “wide oceans.”

Student 2: “Full of tears and flags.”

Student 1: “Rags.”

Student 2: “Ferryboats, scimitars.”

Student 1: Aren’t those swords?

Student 2: “And scarves!!!”

Student 1: I think we lost sight of the moon.

Students 2: We didn’t lose sight of “every precious dream and vision.”

Both Students nod their heads in agreement pondering about this last statement.
