"Favorite Color is Blue"
Candestine Sherry is making her red carpet debut. She's nervous and trying to be in this moment. At 38 she's got a grasp on herself but is not prepared to be thrown into the world of glamor and the world of the rich and famous.
Photographers and Journalists: Smile! Look over here! Candestine, how does it feel? Over here!
Candestine: (shifts personality to ditzy glam) I'm here! It's an exciting time for me to learn to be "striking a pose." The cameras love me now and "smiling in photos without any reason" is my entire life now.
Candestine smiles, laughs, and waves. She makes her way to Terra Redcott, a renowned entertainment blogger.
Terra Redcott: Off the record. You can take a second here.
Candestine: Thank you. We can go ahead with the interview.
Terra Redcott: It's okay. I need a second. We have similar stories - both of us pivoted our careers in our 30s and now face fame every day. I don't know about you but I still feel like an imposter 5 years later.
Candestine: (shifts personality to herself) Changing drastically to fit in "with people that I'll never know." I do feel the way you do and that "I'm outta control, living a fictional prose."
Terra Redcott: Amazing! We should get coffee sometime.
Candestine: That would be great! I'll get in touch with you after this week.
Terra Redcott: You have some big premiers! "I took an oath" and now I have to ask you some on the record questions. Is there a city you are looking forward to being in most?
Candestine: (shifts personality to ditzy glam) Terra, that's such a sneak question. "It's killing me though" to answer because I can't choose my favorite city - they're all tied to the festivals and every festival has been amazing for its own reasons.
Terra Redcott: There's been a lot of chatter that you aren't happy with your producers. Why do you hate your team?
Candestine: I imagined someone was going to ask me at some point. It's "'cause I don't believe in the things that I do" have any real impact to the studios. I’ve spoken out about things people don’t want to think about. I get that there are shareholders and very wealthy donors but I still have opinions that I can share that have nothing to do with the production or distribution of my movies. As a society, we're not focusing on the right things if it’s most important that rich people are happy with those less monetarily well off or who care about the world.
Terra Redcott: And for something more fun. What is your favorite color?
Candestine: That one is tricky. Up until recently I would have said green and "now my favorite color is blue." Thank you for your time!
Candestine walks off toward the next carpet interview.
