"DARE"

"DARE"

Becky is at a homecoming dance with her friends, but they’ve gone to grab drinks and now she’s alone. She’s super nervous for what she’s supposed to do now.

Becky: “dare…” It is just a dare… Why didn’t I pick truth? Okay. Get it together girl. You just have to go up to Jack, then “you’ve got to press” his shoulder, I mean tap his shoulder to get his attention and then it will be “on you” to ask. Why are my thoughts a jumble! Breath girl, just take a deep breath.

As Becky continues to hype herself, Corey comes up and taps her shoulder. Becky turns around quickly, startled.

Corey: What are you doing?

Becky: “Just been thinking.”

Corey: “That’s what you do, baby.”

Becky: What?

Corey: You think a lot.

Becky: Um, why are you acting weird? You don’t talk like that normally.

Corey: I don’t know. I’m really nervous to tell you the truth and I’m trying to “hold it down.” It being my puke.

Becky: Join the club!!

Corey: What are you doing over here by yourself?

Becky: I got dared to ask Jack to dance. I’m so nervous. I’m trying to give myself a pep talk.

Corey: Well, why don’t you “jump with them all” (pointing to all the kids jumping to the music) and “move it” all around.

Becky: Because I’d look like an idiot doing that by myself.

Corey: (starts jumping up and down) Well then join me. You’re not alone anymore we can “jump back and forth.”

Becky starts to timidly dance and jump around with Corey. She stops suddenly, super embarrassed.

Corey: Why’d you stop? “It feels like you were there” and you stopped yourself!

Becky: I can’t do this. I’m chicken.

Corey: You’ll “work it out.” If you want we can dance together.

Becky: “Never did no harm.”
