Music is Life. Writing is a journey. Together it creates Stories.

"Lost in the Light"

Charlene is cleaning up the house. There's a knock at the door. Quiet at first and then louder.

Charlene: (to the door) Coming! (to herself) This better not be more lawn services.

Hamel is on the other side. Nervous. Charlene opens the door and is surprised.

Charlene: It's you.

Hamel: It's me. I didn't mean to come abruptly.

Charlene: Why come at all?

Hamel: I couldn't sleep. "Even counting sheep" didn't help me.

Charlene stares at him, unsure what to say.

Hamel: Can I come in?

Charlene: I haven't decided. If it's any consolation, counting sheep "dont help me sleep" either.

Hamel: "I just toss and turn right there."

Charlene: That's not different than when I was "beside ya." You didn't sleep when we together either.

Hamel: I'm trying to figure it out.

Charlene: Okay.

Hamel: "So if someone could help me now."

Charlene: I'm going to stop you. That person is not going to be me. Your friends, your family, "they'd help you" but not me.

Hamel: My friends and family, "they'd help you too."

Charlene: With what? My people "see through you." Why'd you come?

Hamel: To say I'm sorry. To do "all the hard things we've all gotta do."

Charlene: Apologizing is not what you need to do. Just figure it out. Ghost some people. Save your space for people who want it. "'Cause life is long" and doing what makes you happy is what you need to do.

Hamel: "So you wouldn't be wrong." It is scary you know, "being free" and you "leaving me on my own."

Charlene: I didn't do that. You can't keep blaming me for everything. The entire time "i held my own" and for whatever reason "still I rattled your bones." Nothing was going to go right.

Hamel: "I said some awful things" about you.

Charlene: Well you didn't say them to me. It's time for you to go.

Hamel: I'm trying to "take them back."

Charlene: It's too late and honestly not so simple. Goodbye.

Charlene closes the door and goes back to cleaning. Hamel slowly walks away.
