"Kansas"

"Kansas"

Marli has just gotten her coffee and is trying to find somewhere to sit. Everything is completely full. Joss and Marli make eye contact, Marli motions to the empty seat across from Joss. Joss waves her to come over to join her.

Joss: This place is never this crowded.

Marli: Thank you! I just googled and it came up, I wish I knew it was going to be this crowded.

Joss: Tuesdays at 2pm are the best. Very few people are here.

Marli: I'll keep that in mind. By the way, I'm Marli.

Joss: Joss. New to town?

Marli: How did you know?

Joss: It was either that or you are here for work. Your outfit. It's not quite right for today's weather. What brought you here?

Marli: A relationship.

Joss: I've heard that a lot recently. "You came to Kansas for romances," and so what happened?

Marli: Nothing. Well nothing good. So now I'm single and living in a state I never thought I'd ever step foot in.

Joss: Being single in Kansas is amazing "so soak it up while you can!" Or before you're off the market.

Marli: I plan on it! This guy had the audacity to both break up with me and say "as long as you belong to me" blah blah blah all in one breath.

Joss: Ew.

Marli: Yeah. For a while I could "feel the darkness comin'" and then found out there was so much I can do in this city. It's amazing. No crying over spilled milk.

Joss: Tell me more! I'm trying to "take my mind off" some stuff "honey."

Marli: I could go on forever. Do you ever just "crawl in the backseat" of your car and sit there a while?

Joss: It's a different perspective!

Marli: Yes! How did I get so lucky meeting you. Would you want to go the mountains this weekend? There's a small group going if we get our plans together quickly.

Joss: "You can drive" and be there in just about an hour. I'm in.
